 Who we are

Raja Moubarak is the founder of Winquest. He is a seasoned business executive with senior level experience in multinationals (Coca-Cola, B&W/BAT, BOC Group, Societe Generale) in Europe, Asia and in multiple MENA countries, as an entrepreneur and as Managing Director of one of the oldest retail groups in the Middle East. Since 1993, he has worked and lived in the MENA region, successfully managing businesses in difficult and sometimes hostile environments. Raja has also initiated and championed environmental and social responsibility initiatives throughout his corporate career, including co-founding a multiple bottom-line company (http://2bdesign.biz). In addition, Raja has engaged in philanthropy and community development, serving as Vice-Chair of an NGO providing health care and non-formal education in inner-city communities. Raja earned his MBA from New York University and his BA in Economics from the American University of Beirut.

 

To maximize its blended-value impact, Winquest has established a close collaboration with Dreams InDeed International, a development organization that empowers social entrepreneurs in hard places. The Dreams InDeed CEO, David Haskell, was formerly the founding regional director of Habitat for Humanity in the Middle East and East Africa. David has over two decades of international social entrepreneurship experience, launching six Middle Eastern start-ups and directing four East-African turn-arounds. David holds an MPA from Harvard Kennedy School of Government. a Master of Applied Linguistics from UCLA, and has presented social entrepreneurship cases at major business and graduate schools such as Adelphi, Berkeley, Harvard, Notre Dame, Oxford, Princeton, Stanford, and Tufts Fletcher School.

 

Winquest has also established a close collaboration with Ziad Makkawi, CEO of Dubai based Algebra Capital. Ziad has held top positions at international and regional investment banks and financial institutions (JP Morgan; Elf Aquitaine; Lebanon Invest; Shuaa Capital, Dubai Bank). Ziad holds an MBA from NYU, an MA from Columbia University and a BA from Rice University .
